Songs for The New Year, plus the 5 best versions of Auld Lang Syne

I’ve made themed playlists over the years for almost every major holiday (I’m going to link to three Christmas-themed playlists at the end of this post, since today is the last day you’re LEGALLY allowed to listen to Xmas music). Still, somehow I’ve never tackled New Year’s Eve before. There’s a handful of New Year’s songs on my main Xmas playlist, but as I dug in and started researching this playlist, I’m actually surprised there aren’t even more original songs written about this time of year. It’s the perfect fodder for a songwriter - dealing with all of the emotions that come with reflecting on the past and the occasionally optimistic feelings of hoping for a better year, next year.
