This is phenomenal. I can't wait to dig in. There's quite a bit i'm unfamiliar with. I really appreciate the inclusion of Bobb Trimble.

I'm currently listening to Chris Knox, and can't help but think he fits somewhere in there. I imagine Exuma and Robert Wyatt may deserve a spot amongst the saints

yeah I love love love Chris Knox too and I thought about including him but ultimately decided he is not really Freak Folk. It's hard to deny the influence he had, especially on Jeff Mangum, but ultimately I decided that Neutral Milk Hotel is also not really freak folk. The Elephant 6 world is kind of its own thing. And the Flying Nun world is kind of its own thing. I did include one kiwi - Alastair Galbraith!!

I am also realizing I should have included Peter Jefferies and This Kind Of Punishment or maybe Wreck Small Speakers on Expensive Stereos

I second Exuma! And Robert Wyatt's a favourite, though I don't know if I think of him in this context. Will ponder that one.

I love Robert Wyatt, I didn't think of him here because I don't remember many of these artists name checking him as an influence, but now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure Vetiver and the Animal Collective guys are pretty big fans, so I probably should have included him

Yeah. I hadn't ever really thought of Wyatt as a pre-cursor to freak folk, but seeing Kevin Ayers name made me think that he does fit in there relatively well.

This is a great list. Look forward to working through the ones I'm not familiar with and revisiting some old favourites.
